Transportation, Handling and Storage Techniques for Bentonite Geotextile Membranes
Transportation, handling, and storage of bentonite geotextile membranes:
1. Transportation
(1) During long-distance transportation, the goods must be securely tied and covered to ensure that the product is not damaged.
(2) Pay attention to waterproofing, moisture-proofing, and preventing corrosion during transportation.
(3) Prevent the loss of bentonite granules in the geotextile membrane during long-distance transportation.
(4) During transportation, keep the accompanying auxiliary materials dry to avoid affecting their performance.
2. Handling
(1) The loading and unloading of waterproof materials should be done using mechanized operations, under the unified command of experienced personnel. Avoid damage to the product and its packaging by sharp objects during the process.
(2) When moving bentonite geotextile membranes (GCL) with a forklift or crane, use pre-installed lifting straps or pallets. Do not use wire ropes or lift only part of the material, as this may damage or deform the geotextile membrane.
(3) During unloading, visually inspect each roll of bentonite geotextile membrane for package damage. Damaged packages should be marked and stored separately for further inspection. Repair any damaged packaging before storage.
(4) Check whether each roll of geotextile membrane maintains its original dryness. If dampness or swelling is found, separate these rolls and contact the manufacturer immediately. Do not use them directly.
3. Storage
(1) The storage of bentonite geotextile membranes (GCL) must prevent dampness, seepage, and hydration.
(2) When storing bentonite geotextile membranes (GCL), the bottom must be supported by timber or other materials. The height should be determined based on the site conditions, but the principle is that it must not come into contact with water.
(3) Bentonite geotextile membranes (GCL), including accompanying bentonite powder and other auxiliary materials, should be stored in a non-leaking warehouse. If stored outdoors, they must be completely covered with tarpaulins, plastic sheets, or other waterproof materials.
(4) When stacking, do not exceed four rolls high.
