Armed Resistance to Arrest: Gunfire Exchange with Police Involving Over a Dozen Shots

This article is from the Pingliang Hotline. At around 8 PM the previous evening, Foshan police obtained intelligence about a gang specializing in stealing and robbing mid-to-high-end Japanese cars operating from Shenzhen to Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing, and other areas. Subsequently, the Foshan police quickly mobilized forces for surveillance and arrest operations at multiple locations. At around 10 PM, four suspects drove a dark green car with the license plate number "Yue A/136" into Guangzhou city. The plainclothes officers of Foshan immediately contacted the Guangzhou police, jointly initiating tracking and capture operations.

From www.p358.com, at around 2 AM that morning, the criminal vehicle stopped under a residential complex on Dong Zhongshan Avenue in Guangzhou. Two men got out of the car and began stealing a white off-road vehicle worth over 200,000 yuan with the license plate number "Yue A/986". One suspect quickly opened the car door while the other started the vehicle.

As the suspects were about to drive away with the stolen car, officers who had been lying in wait nearby immediately moved to capture them. The two suspects immediately fled upon seeing the police, leading to a chase. One of the suspects, realizing the police were relentlessly pursuing him, pulled out a gun and fired at the chasing officers. After warning shots proved ineffective, the pursuing officers shot the suspect in the leg. Both suspects, Li Fang and Huang Jia, were injured on the spot. Despite being hit, they ran another 30 meters before finally being captured. In the video provided later by the police, it was heard that there were approximately over a dozen shots exchanged between the police and the criminals.

Meanwhile, another group of arresting officers surrounded the suspects' vehicle, demanding that the other two suspects inside the car exit for inspection. The two suspects suddenly started the vehicle, accelerating to ram into the officers. One officer was knocked down by the car door and suffered chest injuries. In the chaos, the suspects drove straight into a police car set up ahead for interception. After crashing through the police car, the two suspects broke through the "encirclement" and fled wildly. The police immediately fired warning shots and fired at the suspect vehicle.

From the Pingliang Hotline, the suspects' vehicle collided with a large tree by the roadside during their escape attempt, causing severe damage to the front of the vehicle. They hastily abandoned the car and fled. Subsequent police reinforcements judged from bloodstains left in the suspect's car that one of the suspects was injured and had fled. The arrest team immediately dispatched more forces for pursuit and deployed control measures in all hospitals within Foshan.

At around 4 AM, the injured suspects were discovered near a hospital in Dalì Town, Nanhai. The two suspects were identified as Gong Shan (born in 1984, from Wengyuan, Guangdong) and Zhang Yong (born in 1982, from Henan). It was learned that Gong Shan had been shot in the thigh, while Zhang Yong sustained leg injuries after colliding with the police and hitting a tree. After abandoning the vehicle, Gong Shan and Zhang Yong called another accomplice for assistance but were captured by the police stationed at the hospital just as they arrived for treatment.
