At the conference, Ms. Li, a relevant official from the personnel department of the factory, announced to the public that the two who committed suicide by jumping were not employees of this factory, but rather employees from two adjacent factories in the same industrial zone. The female deceased, Li Tangxia (from Zheng County, Henan, 42 years old), was an employee of Dongguan Datang Metal Products Co., Ltd., while the male deceased, Fan Mingqing (from Fengcheng, Jiangxi, 39 years old), was an employee of Dongguan Nangate Lige Stationery Products Co., Ltd. Both factories are located in the same industrial zone as this factory and have business dealings with it. Additionally, from February 1 to February 20, the two companies hired a total of 517 workers, and the number of employees who resigned due to unsuitable working conditions was 264.

At around 5 PM yesterday afternoon, Dongguan Humen Nangate International Stationery Factory held a press conference in its premises to respond to media reports about two employees of the factory jumping to their death within four days. Ms. Li, the head of the personnel department of the factory, informed the conference about the related situation.
Ms. Li first emphasized that the two employees who died after jumping were not employees of this factory, but rather misreported by the media. It just so happens that the factories of the two deceased are in the same industrial zone as this factory and are factories that have business dealings with this factory. The female deceased, Li Tangxia, was an employee of Dongguan Datang Metal Products Co., Ltd., while the male deceased, Fan Mingqing, was an employee of Dongguan Nangate Lige Stationery Products Co., Ltd.
According to investigations conducted by the factory afterward, both deceased had signed formal employment contracts with their respective companies, but the reasons for their jumping to death still await the investigation and announcement by the Humen police.
Labor Department:
Excluded possibility of murder for the two deceased
It is understood that the deceased, Li Tangxia, joined Dongguan Datang Metal Products Co., Ltd. on February 8 this year. The company signed a labor contract with the deceased, which showed that Li Tangxia served as a clerk in one of the workshops of the company, with the contract expiring on February 7, 2015. The deceased, Fan Mingqing, joined Dongguan Nangate Lige Stationery Products Co., Ltd. on March 8, 2004, serving as a technician in the mold engineering department of the company.
Yesterday evening, the reporter called Mr. Deng Jingzhong, director of the Humen Labor Bureau. He informed over the phone that after preliminary investigations by the bureau, the two deceased were not employees of Dongguan Humen Nangate International Stationery Factory, but rather employees of two other companies in the same industrial zone. However, the two involved companies have business dealings with Dongguan Humen Nangate International Stationery Factory.
Mr. Deng Jingzhong also informed that regarding the cause of death reported by the media of the two deceased, the bureau has already gone to investigate. According to information obtained from the police by the bureau, both deceased had signed regular labor contracts with the relevant companies. After police investigations, it has been ruled out that the two deceased were murdered; they jumped themselves.
In addition, according to preliminary police investigation results, the cause of death for the male deceased, Fan Mingqing, was related to discord in his relationship with his wife. The female deceased, Li Tangxia, left a will before her death. The will was addressed to her child, instructing the child to study hard, saying that she was leaving. However, the will did not state the reason for her suicide.
Regarding the causes of death of the two deceased, the bureau will conduct further investigations.
More than 200 employees resigned from the two companies
At yesterday afternoon's press conference, reporters learned about the specific situations regarding hiring and resignation of employees at the two involved companies from February 1 to February 20 this year. Specifically: From February 1 to February 20, the two companies hired a total of 517 workers, and the number of employees who resigned due to unsuitable work conditions was 264. Among them, Dongguan Dacheng Metal Products Co., Ltd. hired a total of 128 employees, with 86 resignations. While Dongguan Nangate Lige Stationery Products Co., Ltd. hired 389 employees, with 178 resignations.
