Initially, various types of hard disk recovery cards were sold on the market, all with the ability to restore hard disk data, thus preventing hard disk failures. Whether it's a system failure or data file damage and loss, as long as you restart, both the system and data can be restored; its working principle is very similar to the watchdog of the Qizhi motherboard, and the basic restoration protection principles of the two are almost identical.
The hard disk recovery card is a practical computer protection tool used to safeguard computer systems. It can effectively protect hard disk and CMOS data. All user errors such as accidental deletions, formatting, installations, and even virus infections that cause system crashes can be easily restored, allowing users to "do as they please" when using their computers. The recovery card uses an integrated high-performance 8139D network card chip module, features a full Chinese interface, is plug-and-play for convenience and speed, and can instantly restore data without occupying hard disk space. It supports common operating systems like WINDOWS95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, as well as common file systems like DOS/FAT16/FAT32/NTFS, large hard drives over 100GB in capacity, various modes of hard disks, multi-disk protection, and hard drive access methods, and can quickly and effectively protect and restore the CMOS. It provides multiple customizable boot-up screens, directly incorporates WINOSWS95/98/ME Vxd device drivers, can prevent low-level formatting, virus infections, and damages, and does not occupy any IRQ or I/O resources, avoiding hardware and software conflicts.
First, we insert the hard disk recovery card into the computer, then press the Del key during startup to enter the BIOS settings menu. Here, there are two things to do: First, set the first boot device to network guidance. The specific setting method is to enable Boot from LAN/Network or LAN boot first, set First boot device to LAN/Network or Zip, set Boot other device to Enable or Try other device to Enable, and set the boot order to Network, C, A. Then, disable the virus warning option.
Of course, before installing the recovery card software, it is recommended to do five things beforehand:
1. If the computer has been used for some time, it’s best to first enter the system and perform a disk defragmentation on the hard drive.
2. Set the system virtual memory to a non-protected disk. The method to set the system virtual memory is by clicking 【Control Panel】|【System】|【Virtual Memory】|【User-defined Virtual Memory Settings】 to reset it.
3. Set the path for Internet temporary files to a non-protected disk. The method to set the Internet temporary file path is by clicking 【Control Panel】|【Internet】|【General Options Folder】|【Internet Temporary Files】|【Settings】|【Move Folder】, then select a folder on a non-protected disk to store the Internet temporary files.
4. Change the path of Outlook email storage directory to a non-protected disk.
5. Since the recovery card already fully or partially includes certain functions, it is hoped that users will either not install or uninstall the following software:
- Antivirus software or real-time virus monitoring.
- Norton System Recovery software.
- Various Windows-based system protection and recovery software.
After completing these tasks, the system will detect the presence of the hard disk recovery card. Before installing the corresponding software, choose 【Do Not Install Temporarily】 first, then enter the system and install the driver program. After restarting, detailed settings can be made within the options of the recovery card.
