After being engaged for 28 years, they finally got married. Settling down is undoubtedly one of the most significant milestones in life. However, in Southampton, UK, a couple of doctors were so preoccupied with their work that they kept postponing their wedding date. Recently, after being engaged for 28 long years, they finally tied the knot and fulfilled their lifelong wish.

According to British media reports on May 23, this dedicated couple consists of 63-year-old Ivan Brown and 55-year-old Barbara Frangie. Both work at the hospital; Ivan as a doctor and Barbara as a radiology technician. They first met in 1981 in the operating room of the Royal Brompton Hospital, fell in love shortly after, and became engaged two years later.

Barbara said, "We were simply too busy. When we got engaged, we didn't even have a proper celebration. I always believed that Ivan and I would get married; we often said there would be a day for it. But both of us worked at the hospital, always on standby, and rarely had weekends together."

Last year, Barbara retired early, and their marriage plans finally came to fruition. However, the perfectionist Barbara wasn't about to rush into marriage without careful planning. She spent an entire year meticulously arranging every detail of the wedding, and last Friday, she finally became "Mrs. Brown" with great satisfaction.

On May 23, the newlyweds embarked on their honeymoon journey happily. Barbara expressed her excitement, saying, "This day has finally come; we are officially husband and wife. This engagement lasting 28 years was truly like a 'marathon.'"

Barbara explained that although she and Ivan loved each other and had been living together for a long time, both sets of parents were dissatisfied with this arrangement. Therefore, holding this wedding was also mainly to give them closure. She added, "You might not believe it, but over these 28 years, we never really set a proper wedding date. I didn't want our wedding to be rushed. After retiring last year, I finally had enough time. With Ivan's agreement, I began preparations methodically. If I had hurriedly taken time off from work to get married, I would have regretted it. As I walked down the aisle, I felt relaxed and at peace. The long wait was worth it."
