The Li Xiufeng couple, who live in the Huayuan community of the Gulou Subdistrict of the Miyun County welcomed their "contracted doctor" at home. The doctor provided them with physical examination and health guidance services. It was learned that not long ago the Gulou Subdistrict introduced a family doctor system for community health care to make it more convenient for residents to seek medical treatment. Based on demand, community residents may voluntarily sign a contract with community doctors to enjoy one-on-one medical services. According to Sun Mingchao, the Party Secretary of the Gulou Subdistrict Working Committee, the signing of medical service contracts between community service stations and residents in towns and subdistricts is the first of its kind in Miyun County. Currently, it is still in the preliminary trial phase. The first group of people to enjoy contracted medical services are old cadres, chronic patients, women of childbearing age and infants within the jurisdiction. In response to these key groups, community doctors will help establish health records based on resident needs, sign responsibility letters with residents and then distribute health contact cards. They will regularly provide health consultation and diagnosis services. As this system continues to be improved and promoted, the scope of the community family doctor system in the Gulou Subdistrict will gradually cover all resident families within the jurisdiction. "Both my husband and I suffer from diabetes and hypertension. Because we are old and live on a higher floor, we have to go to the hospital more than 10 times every year, which is very inconvenient," said Li Xiufeng. She added that the door-to-door family doctor services provided by the community health service center has enabled them to avoid many trips to the hospital. Some routine diagnoses can be done without even stepping out of the house. Yang Xiaohui, director of the Gulou Community Health Service Center said that the promotion of family doctor services aims to enable community residents to learn about their health conditions early and know about health information early. Common diseases and diseases suitable for home treatment can be treated in time. This greatly facilitates the medical needs of elderly people with mobility issues and empty-nest elders. According to relevant agreements, community contracted doctors will provide no less than four health guidance consultations and medication guidance sessions for chronic patients each year.
