The mineralogical name of bentonite is montmorillonite. Natural bentonite can be mainly divided into two categories: sodium-based and calcium-based, according to its chemical composition. Bentonite has the characteristic of swelling when it meets water. When calcium-based bentonite swells, its volume only increases to about three times of its original size. However, sodium-based bentonite can adsorb water five times of its own weight when it meets water, and its volume expands to more than 15-17 times of its original size. Simple construction, short duration: Compared with other waterproofing materials, construction is relatively simpler, without the need for heating or bonding. Only bentonite powder, nails, and washers are needed for connection and fixation. No special inspection is required after construction, and any discovered waterproofing defects are easy to repair. GCL is the waterproof material with the shortest construction period among existing materials.

Not affected by temperature: It does not become brittle even in cold weather conditions.

Integration: Integration of waterproofing material and object: When sodium-based bentonite meets water, it has an expansion capacity of 20-28 times.
