Young man was arrested for using a slingshot to hit women for fun in a busy market

Our reporter learned (via correspondents Liu Tianxiang and Lu Ye) that young men Li and Liu drove to Xidan Street, where they used a slingshot to target "pretty girls" for entertainment. In the process, they ended up injuring several innocent passersby. Yesterday, it was reported that the Xicheng District Procuratorate has approved the arrest of the two on charges of endangering public safety by dangerous means.

Li and Liu are both young men under thirty years old. When they were extremely bored, Li suggested going to a small grove to play with a slingshot. After discussing, they decided instead to go to Xidan to target pretty girls for thrills. Li drove a borrowed business car around Xidan, shooting at any pretty girl he saw, firing over 40 steel beads.

According to victim Ms. Shen's account, she was walking on the sidewalk of Xidan Street when she suddenly got hit below her right eye. "At the time, I felt dizzy and heard ringing in my ears; my hand covering my eyes was full of blood," said Ms. Shen. Her injuries were assessed by a forensic doctor as minor. Several other victims also stated that while walking on the road, they suddenly experienced sharp pains in their necks, arms, or backs, and noticed a steel bead approximately 0.8 centimeters in size rolling on the ground, followed swiftly by a speeding business car driving past.

After the victims reported the incident to the police, officers summoned Li and Liu in Shijingshan District. The two admitted that they also targeted billboards, scaring people standing beneath them.
