Sina Sports News: On December 3rd, Beijing time, Matt Kuchar celebrated his Omega Mission Hills World Cup victory in an unusual way - he and his wife, Sybi, spent the entire day at the Mission Hills Haikou Spa. It seems that this method worked well for him as this week during the Chevron World Challenge, Matt Kuchar once again moved to the front of the pack.
After helping the U.S. team secure a Presidents Cup victory, Matt Kuchar, paired with Gary Woodland, won the Golf World Cup for their country the following week. The night of their victory, Gary Woodland left by plane, but Matt Kuchar's flight wasn't until the next day. Given his schedule, he decided to take full advantage of the benefits provided by the World Cup host. He and his wife enjoyed spa treatments at the Mission Hills Haikou Golf Club.
"Mr. Chu Tingyao, the organizer of the event, specially arranged for us to have spa treatments," Matt Kuchar said on Friday after shooting a 67 in the Chevron World Challenge, "He told me: 'You guys did an amazing job. I really hope you can enjoy all the facilities of our entire resort.' Therefore, my wife and I stayed in the spa center all day. It was my first time doing something like this, and celebrating the victory in this way was truly fantastic."
Matt Kuchar has won three PGA Tour events, and his world ranking has climbed to 11th place. He said his only concern was whether he could withstand the creams during the facial care.
With great form, Matt Kuchar is very pleased to be in second place after the second round of the Chevron World Challenge, tied with South Korean star K.J. Choi. Entering Saturday's third round, both players are at 139 strokes, five under par, trailing leader Tiger Woods by three strokes.
"Over the past two weeks, I've performed well," Matt Kuchar said, "I feel confident that I've thrown my hat into the ring, hoping I can catch up with the leaders. I'm still three shots behind, with 36 holes left to play, so I still have time to catch up."
