At 12:31 PM on October 20th, China Dragon Network (digital reporter, Que Ying) reported that an online whistleblowing message led to the investigation of 19 officials for accepting bribes, one of whom was a county leader involved in millions of yuan. This morning, during Chongqing City's People's Procuratorate's fourth "Procuratorial Open Day," prosecutors informed the media about a bribery case in the construction field of a certain county.
In early May this year, procuratorial authorities discovered an online whistleblowing message on Tianya Chongqing, which indicated that it might involve serious official crimes in the construction field of a certain county in our city. Subsequently, the procuratorial authorities immediately handed over the clue to the grassroots procuratorate for investigation.
In late May, a retired leader (vice-hall level) from a certain county entered the investigative scope of the procuratorial authorities. After a thorough preliminary investigation, it was found that this official, while serving as the County Party Secretary and Director of the County People's Congress Standing Committee before retirement, was suspected of using his position to provide support and assistance to Luo Moumou in contracting construction projects, accepting 270,000 yuan in bribes from Luo Moumou. The prosecution decisively launched an investigation into this official.
During the investigation process, the procuratorial authorities obtained a series of clues related to bribery cases involving relevant leaders and departmental staff members of the said county. This marked the beginning of the investigation into a series of bribery cases in the county's construction field. In the following three months, the procuratorial authorities uncovered a series of major corruption cases in the county's construction field, successively investigating a series of cases involving relevant leaders of departments such as land resources, civil air defense office, environmental protection, quality supervision, and the construction committee. Subsequently, through further investigations, they uncovered three series of bribery cases involving county leaders.
To date, a total of 19 cases involving 19 people have been investigated in this series of cases in the county, including two at the hall level and eight at the bureau level. According to information disclosed by the prosecution, among the individuals involved, three had case amounts exceeding one million yuan, with one county leader involved in an amount reaching several million yuan.
