■ Case Recap

On the night of October 20, 2010, at around 11 PM near Xuefu Avenue in the University Town of Chang'an District, Yao Jiaxin, a 21-year-old third-year student at Xi'an Conservatory of Music, drove a red Chevrolet Cruze car and hit a female service worker, Zhang Miao, who was riding an electric bicycle in the same direction while returning to Xi'an. After getting out of the car, Yao Jiaxin found that Zhang Miao, groaning, was trying to note down his car license plate number, so he took out a sharp knife he carried with him and stabbed her several times, causing Zhang Miao's immediate death.
