Besides being packaged as the Chinese version of "Ghost", "Love in the Afterlife" has another main slogan - Yu Feihong's first self-written, self-directed, self-acted film in which she also serves as the producer. On August 28, this movie, which will be publicly released on September 3, held its premiere promotion in Shanghai. Yu Feihong attended along with the three male leads from the film: Duan Yihong, Yao Lu, and Gao Hu. When talking about Yu Feihong's multiple roles in this film, the three male actors all had something to say about Director Yu... In "Love in the Afterlife", Duan Yihong and Yu Feihong play Ming and Jiu, who are unable to be together due to family grudges in this life, so they agree to meet in the next. Although the buildup in the first half of the film is a bit slow and lacks emotional touchpoints that draw the audience in, it doesn't hinder the moving finale where the audience is touched by the lovers' separation in this life and their inability to be together in the next. Departing from his tough guy image in military-themed TV dramas, Duan Yihong in a long robe gives the audience a refreshing impression. When he talks about his lover in the film and director outside of it, Yu Feihong, he carefully uses the word "obstinate". "This movie has existed in Yu Feihong's heart for too long; every shot, every scene already had a blueprint. So at the scene, we actors with ideas would give her three or four different performances, but on the editing table, she still used the set she had planned out long ago." Gao Hu in "Love in the Afterlife" only makes a "cameo" appearance as Yu Feihong's brother, but one scene took two weeks to shoot, mainly because it rained non-stop when Gao Hu arrived in Yunnan. As an old friend of Yu Feihong's, he even felt some unfamiliarity upon seeing Director Yu on set: "She was very professional, completely not the kind and approachable person she used to be when she was an actor. Seeing her command a large group of people working made me forget who I was..." Yao Lu and Duan Yihong play brothers who have relied on each other since childhood in the film. It is precisely because the older brother played by Yao Lu makes his living through robbery that the seeds of tragedy were sown for Ming and Jiu's love story. Yesterday, during the interview, the reporter learned that Yao Lu is actually Yu Feihong's senior at school. Regarding this former model student turned director, Yao Lu lowered his voice and said: "Being a female director... they all become somewhat androgynous."
