Fortune of Programming Languages in 2008

Before the Lunar New Year, many masters or teachers often conduct various analyses of the fortunes of celebrities, the stock market, and even nations. This tradition has sparked an idea in me to take this time to roughly analyze the possible developments of programming languages this year.

Java-based languages: It seems that Java will gradually decline. J2ME will be impacted by Google Android, Adobe Flash Lite, and the .NET Compact Framework; J2SE faces competition from .NET and AIR; and J2EE is significantly challenged by PHP and Ruby-on-Rails (RoR) in medium and small-sized websites.
