With the typical lockout, it all applies to the wait for the finalizing of big-name players around the league, perhaps the biggest being Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning.
There was talk that Manning would be the highest-paid player in the game, and Colts owner Jim Irsay wanted to follow through on this, but it is currently on hold while finalizing it.
"It should have been done by now," Irsay told reporters on Tuesday when asked about Manning’s expected contract. As far as why things haven't been completed, one report suggested asking Dan Condon, "Ask Dan Condon," Irsay said. "It takes two to tango. So, you'll probably have to ask (agent) Jeff Condon and get any explanation from him. It should have been done and will get done."
Condon is Manning's agent and may have believed he could secure a better deal after the lockout than before it for Manning.
Manning has had the franchise tag placed on him, meaning he isn’t going anywhere but Indianapolis this year, though at what price remains to be seen.
