The Nongke惠民 Breeding Farm specializes in breeding golden-headed centipedes and mealworms as feed, integrating breeding, sales, and product recycling into a large-scale farm. With a pragmatic and honest approach, it helps many customers breed golden-headed centipedes and mealworms with minimal investment for maximum returns.

Supported by Huazhong Agricultural University: A key university under the national "211 Project," Huazhong Agricultural University collaborates with Wuhan Nongke惠民 Bioengineering Co., Ltd. to research and develop scientific farming techniques aimed at enriching farmers through technology, focusing on the breeding of golden-headed centipedes known as Hui Min No. 2.

Advanced Technology Advantages: Through years of observation and breeding, multiple biological experts and professors from Wuhan Nongke惠民 Bioengineering Co., Ltd. and Huazhong Agricultural University have used gene improvement engineering to cultivate a new generation of centipedes called Hui Min - No. 2 Golden-Headed Centipede. Observations show that this breed is easy to raise, has a gentle temperament, strong adaptability, rapid growth, high reproduction rates, better medicinal value, and more significant economic benefits, making it an ideal investment project for those interested in breeding.

Complete Breeding Facilities: The company leverages agricultural science as its advantage, focusing on life sciences, relying on experts and scholars from the Animal Science and Technology College. It integrates modern bioengineering, special animal husbandry, and insect resource development, operating as a high-tech enterprise encompassing research, breeding, teaching, promotion, technical services, production, sales, and import-export trade. It owns large ecological breeding areas, solar greenhouses, and greenhouses, along with specialized centers for technical training, seedling cultivation, genetic transformation, etc., ensuring a robust and complete system.

Wuhan Nongke惠民 Company: Upholding the tradition of "diligent reading and hard work," our company is committed to "scientific agriculture" as its mission, promoting the industrial development of centipede resources with the business philosophy of "integrity, dedication, realism, innovation, and win-win." When people mention the five poisons, they often think of some proverbs, such as "a skinned toad -- annoying when alive, frightening when dead" or "a scorpion carrying a centipede -- poison upon poison." Especially the centipede, known as the "hundred-foot insect," with its numerous legs, can make people's skin crawl. However, there are people who like them, not only breeding centipedes but also making it their profession.

The centipede, also known as the heavenly dragon, has high medicinal and economic value. China is a traditional origin of authentic centipede medicine, and in the past, most medicinal centipedes were captured in the wild, leading to a severe shortage of wild centipedes and a continuous rise in prices. Therefore, the prospects of centipede farming are very broad.

Although centipedes look terrifying, they have many uses and can treat various diseases. Medicinal centipedes are dried insect bodies with a fishy smell and a special pungent odor, tasting acrid and slightly salty. They contain two toxic components similar to bee venom, namely histamine-like substances and hemolytic proteins, as well as tyrosine, leucine, formic acid, fatty oils, cholesterol, etc. Medicinal centipedes have the functions of calming wind, relieving spasms, reducing swelling, and detoxifying. They are mainly used to treat children's convulsions, tetanus, epilepsy, facial paralysis, lymph node tuberculosis, abscesses, and ulcers. Recently, it was also found that centipedes can be used to treat tumors.

Centipedes are cold-blooded animals whose body temperature always matches the external environment. However, the most suitable temperature range for centipede growth is 20°C to 38°C. Since centipedes prefer damp and hidden places, in the wild, they usually hide in rock crevices or among weeds.

To prevent escapes, glass must be embedded in all four walls of the pool for centipede farming due to their excellent climbing ability. For cage farming, nylon nets must be used for closure, and feeding must be timely. In artificial centipede farming, if food is not provided on schedule, centipedes may eat each other due to hunger, causing significant losses. Earthworms and mealworms are both foods that centipedes enjoy, requiring feeding once every night. Before giving birth, female centipedes must be separated from the breeding pool in time. After the young centipedes hatch, they should be divided according to size to prevent cannibalism. Humidity and temperature must be controlled. If indoor farming is conducted, attention should be paid to changes in humidity and temperature. Low humidity can cause centipedes to dry out and die, while high summer temperatures and humidity can lead to sudden death. The optimal humidity range is between 60% and 70%. If the temperature is too high, ventilation and cooling must be ensured promptly.

Centipedes have been used as traditional animal Chinese medicines for thousands of years. According to "Changguo Dian Yong," it is recorded that in the area of Moxin Ridge, locals cultivated centipedes as fields, supplying pharmacies with these products. This practice dates back a long time, though no one cultivates them today. Moxin Ridge is located within Zhejiang's Daishan region, famous for producing medicinal centipedes. Locals managed the suitable habitats for medicinal centipedes, protected the populations to ensure their reproduction, or improved their growing environments and supplemented food sources to promote breeding. After harvesting, they sold the centipedes to pharmacists for payment, using this as their livelihood. This shows that even in ancient China, there were people engaged in the farming of medicinal centipedes.

In recent years, with the rapid development of the centipede detoxification pharmaceutical industry, there has been a shortage of centipedes. Considering the domestic pharmaceutical market situation, information gathered from national special breeding information meetings indicates that the long-term use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has caused the wild centipede resources to decrease annually, resulting in rising prices from just a few cents per centipede in the last century to over 1.5 yuan per centipede now. This supply-demand imbalance makes it difficult to meet domestic and international market demands, thus prompting the emergence of artificial centipede farming as a special breeding industry.

What are the feeds for centipedes?

Centipedes prefer fresh animal-based feeds, favoring soft-bodied, juicy small insects such as crickets, Tenebrio molitor, locusts, spiders, mole crickets, grasshoppers, earthworms, flies, maggots, sparrows, rodents, frogs, and other carnivorous animals, as well as pig blood, chicken blood, tender grass shoots, watermelon rinds, etc.

(Seven) Maintain hygiene:

It is essential to keep the centipede nests clean. Any leftover feed and dead bodies must be promptly removed. If not cleared, they could rot, mold, and spoil, causing illness if consumed by centipedes. Disinfection should be done monthly by dissolving water until it turns light purple, then sprinkling it on bricks and tiles in the nest.

(Eight) Seasonal management of centipedes:

(1) Spring Management: Pay attention to managing before and after the Awakening of Insects. During this period, the temperature is relatively low, and although centipedes begin to revive, their activity and digestive capabilities are weak. Feeding too early can result in indigestion. Generally, feed them once every five days.

(2) Summer Management: Summer is the peak season for centipede activity. Besides providing sufficient food, sanitation must be maintained. Remove any rotten carcasses or spoiled feed, and ensure access to clean drinking water. Indoor farms can open windows for ventilation.

(3) Autumn Management: Young centipedes appear in August and September; group separation work should be done before winter. Feed them more active prey to strengthen their constitution and store energy for winter. Monitor the temperature of their activity areas.

(4) Winter Management: As the temperature drops around the Frost Descent period, centipedes stop eating and enter hibernation. Prevent freezing during hibernation.

(Nine) Care for different age groups of centipedes:

(1) Young centipede management: After 42 days of incubation, centipede eggs become larvae with increased appetite. Provide sufficient food and water. Offer tasty feed.

(2) Adult centipedes require higher-quality feed during their growth and reproductive phases. Insect meat is the main diet, and feeding frequency should be increased.
