Xiaoli (a pseudonym), a 25-year-old from Putian, decided to teach her husband a lesson after being scolded by him. She added the pesticide "DDVP" into the noodles she was preparing at home. Unexpectedly, her mother-in-law mistakenly ate the noodles but fortunately managed to spit them out in time. Recently, after comprehensively considering Xiaoli's honest confession of her crime and the victim's forgiveness, the Huli District Court of Xiamen made its first-instance judgment: Xiaoli was found guilty of intentional homicide and sentenced to three years in prison with a four-year reprieve.

Xiaoli lived temporarily in Tangbian Community of Huli District with her husband and his parents. Xiaoli confessed that on May 9th, she had an argument with her husband over trivial matters. At the time, her husband criticized her for being incapable at work and taking care of their child. He even threw a cane she intended to give her father onto the ground. After being scolded, Xiaoli became very angry. The next morning at around 6 o'clock, as soon as her husband got up, he scolded her again. An upset Xiaoli then decided to teach her husband a lesson.

At about 7 o'clock, her husband went out to work, and neither of her in-laws were at home. Thinking that her husband would eat the leftover noodles from the previous evening when he returned, Xiaoli dripped about a dozen drops of DDVP into the noodles. At 9:30, Xiaoli returned to their temporary residence and saw her mother-in-law heating the noodles. Her daughter also wanted to eat them, so Xiaoli quietly told her that the noodles tasted strange and shouldn't be eaten. She then took her daughter and son out of the room.

Xiaoli explained that due to poor relationship between her and her mother-in-law, they often argued, and her mother-in-law frequently caused conflicts between her and her husband, even inciting her husband to beat her. Therefore, despite seeing her mother-in-law eating the noodles, she deliberately didn't warn her about the poison.

Afterward, Xiaoli's mother-in-law said that while heating the noodles, she didn't notice anything unusual, so she went downstairs to chat. When she returned to the house, she smelled a pungent odor but didn't pay much attention to it. After taking a bite of the noodle, she felt a bitter taste. Taking another bite, she immediately felt as if her throat was being squeezed painfully and experienced chest tightness. Realizing there was something wrong with the noodles, she quickly spat them out and called her son.

Upon learning the situation, her son reported it to the police. Around 11 o'clock that day, Xiaoli was arrested. However, afterward, both her husband and mother-in-law forgave her and requested leniency.
