Our agency reports that on June 19th, the reporter learned from the People's Procuratorate of Ruian City that those who held guns to kidnap a boss and extorted 3.5 million yuan (our newspaper had reported before), in the sensational Wenzhou kidnapping case with the largest amount involved, there has been new progress. The suspects Lin and others were legally approved for arrest.
The main planner of this case, Lin, is a gambler. In the past three years, he lost more than 20 million yuan in gambling and also had gambling dealings with the victim Xue. Lin suspected that in previous gambling sessions, Xue colluded with others to "kill the pig" (referring to cheating in gambling). Therefore, at the end of 2008, Lin had the idea to "teach Xue a lesson."
Another core person in this case, Lin Moumou, is also a gambler. According to Lin Moumou's confession: before the incident, he owed 3 million yuan in gambling debts.
Besides the grudge between Lin and Xue, another reason for kidnapping Xue was because he was wealthy, as reported by Hexun Blog.
In early April, Lin and others told Ying, who was hired from a certain martial arts school in Songshan, that Xue owed him 2.7 million yuan and they would need to kidnap him. They also instructed Yu and others to wait and track Xue at a high-end residential area where he lived to figure out his daily routine.
To ensure everything went smoothly, on the night of the incident, Lin and others even conducted a rehearsal, letting their accomplice Hou pretend to be "Xue", practicing how to forcibly drag "Xue" into the car, and what to do after successfully kidnapping him and going upstairs to the detention site.
Afterwards, Lin carried firearms, knives and other tools used for the crime and drove to the residential area where Xue lived to wait. At around midnight on April 25th, Xue, driving a BMW, was held at gunpoint and knifepoint in the underground parking lot of the residential area and kidnapped.
After paying 3.5 million yuan ransom, Xue was released at the edge of a mountain in Wencheng.
