Our agency reports: After being stopped for drunk driving, she stayed in her car for half an hour, neither showing her driving license nor cooperating with the alcohol test. She was finally persuaded to get out of the car, only to buy water and notify her friends—essentially, refusing to cooperate. When the traffic police prepared to take her to the hospital for a blood test, she started a tantrum and bit three traffic police officers on their hands and elbows. This 37-year-old female driver was detained that night after a series of wrongdoings. Recently, the Baixia District Court of Nanjing sentenced her to six months of detention, suspended for one year, on charges of obstructing official duties.

On the evening of June 26 this year, the Second Brigade of Nanjing Traffic Police launched a "Storm Ban" unified operation on Moling Road in Baixia District. At 8:30 PM, a young woman driving an Anhui-registered small car passed by this area and was stopped at the gate of PetroChina Tower by a duty traffic policeman. There was only the female driver in the car, and after opening the window, the traffic policeman smelled a distinct smell of alcohol. He then asked the female driver to show her driving license and get out of the car for an alcohol test.

According to the traffic policemen on duty, this woman initially had a cooperative attitude, repeatedly claiming she hadn't drunk alcohol. Then, under the pretext of having official business to handle, she made a phone call. The traffic policemen patiently waited beside the car, but after finishing her call, she still sat in the car, neither taking out her driver's license nor willing to do the alcohol test. Possibly annoyed by the traffic policeman standing beside her car, she eventually locked the doors and windows, staying silent inside the car. After the traffic policemen knocked for a long time, she lowered the window again, but still refused to cooperate with the inspection. After repeated education from the traffic policemen, half an hour later, she pulled over and got out of the car.

Just as the traffic policemen were about to approach her, she ran away and entered a nearby store to buy a bottle of mineral water, gulping it down quickly, probably trying to dilute the alcohol smell in her mouth. Seeing that the bottle of water was almost empty, the traffic policeman approached her again, asking her to show her driver's license and voluntarily accept the alcohol test. Unexpectedly, she still refused to cooperate and called a group of friends for support.

At this point, the traffic policeman seriously stated that due to her refusal to undergo the alcohol test, the police had the right to take her to a medical institution for a mandatory blood test. Hearing this, the woman became flustered, stubbornly refusing to move from the roadside. After much entanglement, she suddenly fled when the traffic policeman wasn't paying attention. Another duty traffic policeman immediately chased her and grabbed her wrist. Unexpectedly, she opened her mouth and bit the traffic policeman's hand, causing it to bleed profusely. Two other traffic policemen came to help, but she started throwing a tantrum, biting and kicking them, injuring both their hands and elbows. After subduing her, the traffic policemen first sent her to the hospital for testing, then transferred her along with the car to the local police station.

The test results showed that the alcohol concentration in the woman's blood exceeded the standard, qualifying as drunk driving. According to her own confession, her surname is Wu, she is 37 years old, works in Shanghai, and came to Nanjing for a social engagement that day, drinking alcohol during dinner. The traffic department issued a traffic violation penalty notice to Ms. Wu. That night, Ms. Wu was criminally detained on suspicion of obstructing official duties. In August this year, the prosecution charged her with obstructing official duties and brought her to trial at the Baixia District Court of Nanjing. Recently, the court held a hearing for this case, and Ms. Wu admitted guilt in court. Considering her relatively good attitude of admitting guilt, the court leniently sentenced her to six months of detention, suspended for one year.
