Drunk driver crashes into 5 vehicles, causing 1 death and multiple injuries

Xinhua News Agency, Nanjing, February 11th (reported by Fang Jiang) - On the evening of the 10th, a drunk man drove a black Passat sedan with the license plate number SU KU6001, colliding with five vehicles in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, resulting in one death and several injuries.

According to informed sources, between 8:50 PM and 9:15 PM on the 10th, this Passat first collided with a car in front of the Dongyuan Hotel on West Canal Road in the eastern district of Yangzhou and then fled. When it reached near the south gate of Wenchang Garden, it collided with a waiting mini-bus and a motorcycle at a red light. After fleeing again, near the north gate of Wenchang Garden, it collided with a second mini-bus. Afterwards, this "reckless" Passat still did not stop, and rammed into another car by the roadside. Finally, it crashed into the brick wall of a grocery store, causing the front windshield to shatter, and severe damage to the hood and engine, bringing this accident to an end.

After the accident occurred, personnel from local public security, fire services, and the 120 emergency medical services quickly arrived at the scene. The second mini-bus that was hit sustained the most serious damage; its front was damaged, the rear deformed, and several people inside were injured, one of whom died after unsuccessful hospital resuscitation attempts.

Currently, the police are investigating the detailed circumstances of the accident.
