Hunan Rednet Changsha, September 7 (reporter from Hunan Morning Post Chen Bin) - In the early hours of September 5, a woman was robbed on her way home. To prevent herself from being assaulted, she resisted the robber with all her might, resulting in being slashed ten times by the vicious robber. Currently, this woman has been sent to Hengsheng Hand Surgery Hospital in Changsha for treatment. In the morning of yesterday, the police from Yiyang came to Changsha to investigate and question her.

This woman is named Yao Qiong, 24 years old, graduated from Yiyang Medical College (formerly known as Yiyang Health School), residing at Minfu Apartment in Yiyang. She used to work as a nurse in a hospital in Changsha. Recently, she returned to her hometown Yiyang.

According to Yao Qiong's account, around midnight on September 4, she was returning home alone. When she reached Bridge North Square, she took a shortcut near a flood defense embankment where she encountered a man robbing her. The robber was about 166-168 cm tall, very thin, around 21 years old. He stole a few hundred yuan from her and also grabbed her mobile phone. Then he pushed her down and tried to assault her. She resisted fiercely, so the robber hit her head with a brick and then pulled out a knife, violently retaliating against Yao Qiong before fleeing.

"At that time, the doctors from 120 were performing first aid on the scene, my daughter's face and body were covered in blood," said Yao Qiong's mother.

The doctor from Ward One of Orthopedics Department at Hengsheng Hand Surgery Hospital in Changsha said that Yao Qiong had four cuts on her face, two cuts on her right hand causing ulna fracture, and additionally, her left hand had four cuts from the back side.

After an overnight rescue by the doctors, currently, Yao Qiong's hand has been temporarily reattached, and she is now out of life-threatening danger.

In the morning of yesterday, the detectives from Ziyang Branch of Yiyang Public Security Bureau came to Changsha and questioned Yao Qiong who was lying in the intensive care unit. "Although there were surveillance cameras capturing the robber during his escape, due to heavy rain and dim streetlights, it has brought difficulties to solving the case," said a police officer.
