On the morning of the 23rd, due to the large passenger flow, the doors of Nanjing Metro Line 1 South Extension were "squeezed out of shape" and could not be closed, causing multiple train delays. It is understood that since the beginning of this year, there have been many incidents of metro delays caused by passengers crowding around the doors.

On that day, a netizen revealed on the forum that there were too many passengers on the south extension line of Metro Line 1, and the train doors couldn't be closed, leading to multiple metro delays during the morning rush hour. A relevant person in charge of the city's subway operation branch said that at around 8 o'clock that morning, a subway traveling from the southern part of the city to the city center couldn't close its doors at Andemen, Zhonghuamen and other stations, and had to manually close the doors. The original 25-minute journey took more than 40 minutes, and subsequent trains were forced to operate at limited speeds. The person in charge said that the subway has the largest passenger flow during the morning rush hour. Many passengers still try to squeeze onto the train after the door closes and the warning bell rings. Passengers inside the train also worry about not being able to get off at the station, so both inbound and outbound passengers are congested at the door, which easily causes the door to deform.

Since the beginning of this year, there have been several similar incidents in the city. On June 28th, it was also Metro Line 1. Due to the crowded passenger flow during the morning rush hour, passengers squeezed onto the train, making it impossible for the door to close, causing the train to be delayed. For this reason, the city will gradually increase the number of trains. It is expected that after the new vehicles arrive in March next year, the congestion of the subway will be effectively alleviated.
