Wealthy woman's pregnancy-seeking ads keep appearing

A woman surnamed Li who answered the phone call asked for a 300 yuan "security deposit," claiming that there was a lawyer to guarantee and a notary office to notarize it.

After verification by the reporter, all of these turned out to be fake.

Seeking a considerate, healthy, masculine man of good character to conceive together. If the terms are agreed upon over the phone, a 3 million yuan deposit will be paid immediately. After the matter is completed, another 17 million yuan will be paid... The day before yesterday, an advertisement seeking a child with a hefty reward caught many people's attention at the Young Road Small Garden bus stop ad board.

Since this A4-sized printed "sincere plea" was posted on the bus stop ad board, and given that the Small Garden area of Youth Road is in a bustling downtown location, it attracted the attention of many passersby. Is this information true? Could it be a scam? The reporter conducted an investigation.

The "sincere plea" begins by stating that the information is guaranteed by a law firm called Wanhao and has been notarized by a notary office, also publishing the notary number. In the main text, it says that the applicant is surnamed Li, 30 years old, fair-skinned, beautiful, and charming. Her husband is a wealthy businessman but became disabled due to an accident. Seeing that their substantial assets have no heir, she wants to find a considerate, healthy, masculine man of good character to conceive together... A photo of a beautiful woman is attached in the top right corner.

Upon answering the phone

She immediately asks for a 300 yuan security deposit

Under the pretense of helping a friend inquire, the reporter dialed the contact number left on the "sincere plea." The woman who answered spoke fluent Mandarin with a soft voice, very much fitting the image described in the small advertisement. However, as soon as the call was connected, this woman who claimed to be surnamed Li proposed charging a 300 yuan security deposit because "many people are dishonest, leaving me physically and mentally exhausted. 300 yuan just shows your sincerity."

Reporter: How do I pay the money?

Li: You go to the Industrial and Commercial Bank first, then notify me, and I'll send you the card number via text message. After you transfer 300 yuan, I'll arrange a meeting once I receive the information. Bring the remittance slip when we meet. Once we meet and agree, we won't answer other people's calls anymore.

Reporter: No more calls from anyone else?

Li: Once we've agreed, naturally I won't interact with others. If the meeting is satisfactory, you can pay a 3 million yuan deposit, through the lawyer. It can be cash or bank transfer. Afterwards, we'll spend some time together, build a certain emotional foundation, and then arrange accommodation.

Reporter: Is the law firm providing you with guarantees?

Li: This cannot be disclosed; we have signed a confidentiality agreement with the lawyer. We don't want this to be public knowledge; we don't want the child to know about this unseemly history when they grow up, which would be bad for the child. Moreover, my husband runs a large enterprise, so it would also have an impact.

Reporter: What are your specific conditions?

Li: Being able to make the call means there's a connection; once the call connects, the connection can begin. Some people call just to joke around; some have ill intentions and are relationship scammers. They talk well during communication, but when we meet, after I show them my ID and such, they ask for 5 million yuan, threatening to expose the matter if I don't comply. This has caused me great harm.

Reporter: How do we sign the contract?

Li: This is a legal society; we'll sign a good agreement through a lawyer. Once pregnancy is confirmed, and the hospital ultrasound confirms it, I'll pay you 17 million yuan, and I'll return to Hong Kong without waiting for the child to be born.

Reporter: Even if pregnant, the child may not necessarily be born smoothly. Aren't you taking a risk?

Li: My physical condition is currently very good. Moreover, both parties must undergo a medical examination beforehand; only if there are no problems will we start.

Reporter: Where are you from?

Li: My hometown is in Kunming, now in Yuxi. Our family's financial situation isn't very good, so I got married early. My husband and I have a very good relationship; the only drawback is that we can't have a child. My husband is much older than me, and perhaps they feel somewhat indebted to me, so he supports this matter very much.

At this point in the conversation, as the reporter was about to raise the next question, the woman on the other end of the phone said she had something urgent to attend to and hung up hastily. Subsequently, the reporter called her three times, but each time she hung up citing being busy.

Notary Office: The notary number is fake

The afternoon before yesterday, the reporter contacted the Kunming Mingxin Notary Office. The staff there stated that they absolutely would not notarize matters of this kind. Furthermore, regarding the notary number published in the small advertisement, the staff clearly indicated that it was fake.

Subsequently, the reporter looked up information about the Wanhao Law Firm through various channels. Finally, online, they found a "Wanhao Law Firm," but it was located in Zhejiang. The staff at the law firm stated that they would absolutely not provide guarantees for such matters. Lawyer Li Shiying from Dacheng (Kunming) Law Firm stated that law firms do not have the qualifications to provide guarantees, and such guarantee behavior itself is illegal and not protected by law.
