Now.com.cn (by correspondent Wan Tao and reporter Hai-fu Li) On the 3rd day, a tragedy of sibling fratricide occurred in Tianmen. Due to trivial matters, an argument broke out between the brother and the younger brother, and the elder brother cruelly killed his younger brother and sister-in-law. On the afternoon of the 4th, the Tianmen police surrounded the suspect in a residential house, leaving him no way out, and he committed suicide due to his crimes.
According to the Tianmen police, at around 5 pm on the afternoon of the 3rd, the command center of the Tianmen Public Security Bureau received an emergency call reporting that a shooting murder case had occurred in Lingjiao Village, Zhanggang Town. The couple, Mr. Chen from Group 9 of the village, were shot dead in their home.
The Tianmen police quickly initiated an emergency plan for solving homicide cases. Through investigations and visits by the police, some people reported that on the morning of the 3rd, Chen Tongbo (male, 53 years old, from Group 9, Lingjiao Village, Zhanggang Town), the elder brother of the deceased Mr. Chen, had a quarrel with them over trivial matters. At around 5 pm that afternoon, Chen Tongbo sneaked into Mr. Chen's home with a double-barreled shotgun, killing the couple, and even threatened to take revenge on society.
According to informed citizens, when Chen Tongbo fled, he was still carrying a gun, posing an extremely high social danger. After confirming the suspect, the investigation work began immediately. The Tianmen police immediately formed four specialized teams, each conducting on-site inspections and visiting the area; while simultaneously organizing a manhunt, deploying police forces at major intersections around the incident location for checks, and implementing social prevention measures. They printed 1,000 copies of a notice requesting assistance in the investigation, distributing them to every village, offering a reward of 10,000 yuan to encourage the public to provide clues, and urging schools to enhance preventive measures.
At 9:30 am on the 4th, during the investigation of Chen Tongbo's associates, investigators learned that at around 9 am that day, some villagers had seen Chen Tongbo appear in Gushui Village, Tuoshi Town. The command post quickly adjusted its police force, setting up three lines of blockade. Plainclothes police officers rode motorcycles to patrol the fields, all exits from the village were guarded by SWAT members, and checkpoints were set along the roads leading to Tuoshi Town, conducting a thorough search.
In the afternoon at around 2 pm, while patrolling and controlling the situation in Group 6 of Gushui Village, the police discovered a clear set of footprints near a cotton field due to the rain. Moreover, some villagers reported having seen a middle-aged man resembling Chen Tongbo hiding in a two-story residential house. Following these clues, the police tracked down the suspect, tightening the encirclement, surrounding the house. Officers shouted through a megaphone, demanding that he surrender his weapon. At 2:30 pm, as the officers were shouting, a gunshot suddenly rang out from the second floor. SWAT members quickly rushed upstairs and found that Chen Tongbo had already committed suicide with a gunshot, lying flat on the bed in the room. Currently, the specific reasons for the murders are still under further investigation.
