It was originally a thief who stole the broken Xiaolingtong, fixed it and then made long distance calls.
Foshan News (Reported by Zhang Zhang) Yesterday, Ms. Liu from Chancheng District called our newspaper hotline to tell us about her troubles. "I only found out after checking at the telecom business hall that the stolen Xiaolingtong had accumulated a debt of 3950 yuan! Because the Xiaolingtong is linked to our home fixed-line telephone, we have to pay this amount!" Ms. Liu said that in July this year, her house was burglarized and they discovered that cash worth about 40,000 yuan and some household appliances were missing. "We didn't notice that a broken Xiaolingtong in the corner was also stolen, and even more surprisingly, the thief actually fixed this Xiaolingtong and used it to make nearly 4000 yuan worth of phone calls in just two months!"
Ms. Liu explained that after the burglary, they did not realize that the Xiaolingtong was gone mainly because "this phone hadn't been used for a long time and it was already broken." According to the introduction, this Xiaolingtong had become unable to turn on due to battery aging from long-term disuse. Therefore, Ms. Liu speculated that after the Xiaolingtong was stolen, the thief repaired it and started using it.
Additionally, since this Xiaolingtong was bound to Ms. Liu's home fixed-line telephone, all fees generated by the Xiaolingtong were recorded under Ms. Liu's family account. "When I went to the business hall for inquiry, the printed phone bill was several meters long, with over a dozen long-distance calls being made every day, each lasting two or three hours," Ms. Liu angrily stated. She found that the most frequently dialed number in the bills was from Yulin, Guangxi, "which should be the thief's good friend or relative."
After reporting the case to the police, Ms. Liu recalled that after the burglary, her home fixed-line telephone often received calls from strangers looking for someone named 'Ajian'. "At the time, I just thought it was strange, but now I realize these calls were intended for the thief." Ms. Liu explained that since the binding service was activated, her home fixed-line telephone and the Xiaolingtong shared the same number. "Both phones would ring when someone called, so it's possible that some important calls intended for my family were answered by the thief."
Telecommunications Operator:
The 3950 yuan debt does not need to be paid temporarily
After the incident, Ms. Liu reported the theft to the telecommunications company. The customer service representative indicated that the late payment fee incurred after the suspension could be waived, and the 3950 yuan debt for phone charges did not need to be paid temporarily. Both parties would discuss a solution after the police solved the case.
However, according to our reporter's understanding, the police are still investigating the case.
