According to reports, (reporter Lei Zhang, correspondent Ying Zhou) migrant workers who worked on construction sites disabled themselves and lied that they got injured at work in order to commit fraud. Not only did they end up with serious injuries, but also had to face legal punishment. It was reported this morning that a gang of 11 criminals headed by a man surnamed Han was arrested for deliberately injuring themselves to defraud construction sites.
In July this year, managers of several construction sites in Beijing all encountered the same strange incident: A newly hired worker fell down within two hours of starting work. After being sent to hospital, it was found that his injury was quite serious - a fracture which required surgery. Soon after, the worker's relatives arrived. They negotiated with the site manager, saying that they didn't want the surgery to be done in Beijing as it was too expensive and inconvenient. They planned to take the injured worker back to their hometown for treatment. After giving several thousand yuan to ten thousand yuan to the relatives of the injured worker, they left.
It wasn't until the police captured the gang of 11 people led by Han that the site managers realized they had been deceived.
Under the leadership and organization of Han, these 11 people had clear divisions of labor: some were responsible for contacting the construction sites and getting jobs from the site managers; some voluntarily allowed their accomplices to break their arms with steel pipes, then pretended to get injured while working on the construction site; some were responsible for accompanying the injured person to work on the construction site, taking him to the hospital and notifying the fake relatives to negotiate; some were responsible for pretending to be the injured person's family and negotiating with the site boss.
Between June and July this year, the 11 suspects committed more than ten such frauds, each time defrauding several thousand yuan to over ten thousand yuan.
From Chaoyang Procuratorate, we learned that in the above-mentioned case, those suspects who voluntarily allowed their accomplices to break their arms with steel pipes and then pretended to get injured while working on the construction site originally just wanted to come to Beijing to find work. They believed their accomplices' inducements and wanted to earn big money easily, so they agreed to join the criminal gang and allow themselves to be injured by their accomplices, ultimately ending up with serious physical injuries and facing legal punishment.
