Chongqing traffic police announced the eleventh list of organizations whose vehicles violated traffic regulations and were not dealt with in time. In order to compete for passengers, some taxi drivers are used to breaking traffic laws by making illegal U-turns or overtaking others. Some taxi drivers, because of their rich driving experience and familiarity with the terrain, ignore traffic rules and passengers' safety. According to this situation, the No.5 Team of Chongqing Traffic Police Detachment immediately rectified eight behaviors including taxis' forced overtaking, competing for right-of-way at intersections, changing lanes arbitrarily, not wearing seat belts, smoking while driving, using mobile phones while driving, honking randomly, deliberately shielding license plates and making illegal U-turns. Meanwhile, the traffic police department also adopted "hard-line means" to change the centralized processing of traffic violations of 35 taxi companies into monthly processing of violations.
After a period of rectification, the violation situation of taxis in the urban area has significantly improved. There was no taxi company on the exposure list in the last two weeks. The city's traffic police department said that it would continue to sort out violators and expose them weekly while strictly rectifying. It is reported that in addition to exposing violator units continuously, the traffic police department will also expose private car violators in the future. Meanwhile, policemen reminded drivers to drive in a civilized and legal manner and deal with traffic violations at various traffic management service stations or traffic police teams.
