Citizen Deng Guihu

Event Flashback

"Half a month ago, I was scammed while job hunting. After the intervention of the Mayor's public hotline and the Personnel Bureau, my scammed 900 yuan was fully returned to me. Here, I want to deeply thank the Mayor's public hotline and all those who helped me!" On September 8th, the "Mayor's Mailbox" received a letter of thanks from citizen Deng Guihu. Between the lines, it showed gratitude towards the "Mayor's Public Hotline".

Job Hunting Scam

The scam took nearly 900 yuan in cash from the young man.

In early August, Deng Guihu went to apply for an electrician position at the Ju Jie Talent Brokerage Service Company on Shuhan Road No. 7. After some consultation, the brokerage company said, "To find a job, you must first pay a 200 yuan archiving fee and a 10 yuan handling fee to establish a personal file." Due to his eagerness to find a job, Deng Guihu paid the fees as required and was introduced to the personnel department of Chengdu Xin Hong Xiang Material Trading Company for an interview. During the interview, after asking a few basic questions, the responsible person from the personnel department happily agreed to hire Deng Guihu. However, according to regulations, new employees must pay 190 yuan for a physical examination and 500 yuan for uniforms.

"How do I have to pay again?" Although Deng Guihu had some doubts in his heart, he felt relieved since the job was confirmed. After paying 690 yuan, Xin Hong Xiang Material Trading Company informed Deng Guihu to wait at home for news. A few days later, when Deng Guihu returned to the company, he found it deserted. "Did I get scammed?" Helpless, Deng Guihu, who fell into the "job hunting chain trap," called the Mayor's public hotline.

Department Coordination

The scammed cash was "fully returned."

According to the regulations of the Provincial Price Bureau, only after a successful recommendation can intermediaries charge job seekers for intermediary service fees. At the same time, charging job seekers for physical examinations and uniform fees violates the provisions of the "Sichuan Talent Market Management Regulations" and should be refunded to the job seekers. In the absence of being able to locate the employer, the intermediary bears undeniable responsibility.

Upon receiving the information about Deng Guihu's job-seeking scam, the City Personnel Bureau quickly investigated Ju Jie Talent Brokerage Service Company and Xin Hong Xiang Material Trading Company. In mid-August, the City Personnel Bureau ordered Ju Jie Talent Brokerage Service Company to compensate for economic losses first. Under the supervision of the Municipal Talent Market Supervision Team, they returned the full 900 yuan in cash to Deng Guihu.

Special Reminder

Job seekers should "look three times" before signing a contract.

In recent days, the "Mayor's Public Hotline Mayor's Mailbox" often received calls and emails from job seekers who mistakenly fell into "job-hunting traps." So, what should job seekers pay attention to when job hunting or applying for jobs? And how should they protect their own rights? For this reason, our newspaper specially invited Su Jianyi, head of the Legal Education Department of the Municipal Labor Security Supervision Corps, to visit our column and provide guidance for job seekers:

Any recruitment unit that charges job seekers under any name for deposits, clothing fees, product deposits, risk funds, registration fees, training fees, etc., is engaging in illegal behavior. Job seekers encountering such situations should firmly refuse to pay and report the matter to the Personnel Bureau or Labor Bureau Supervision Team in the area where the recruitment unit is located to ensure that their legitimate rights and interests are not violated.

In addition, when signing contracts with employers, job seekers should "look three times": First, check if the company has been registered by the industrial and commercial department and the validity period of its registration; otherwise, the signed contract will be invalid. Second, check if the contract wording is accurate and complete. Third, check if the labor contract includes essential contents such as the term of the labor contract, job content, conditions for termination of the labor contract, and responsibilities for violating the labor contract.
