Trees in Winter

Winter trees are solemn,

Even more concise and straightforward.

They shed the tenderness of spring,

The brilliance of summer,

And the splendor of autumn,

To become a sharp sword,

Pointing straight to the sky,

Standing there with integrity.

Rain comes,

Frost comes,

Ice comes,

Snow comes,

It faces them all calmly,

And bears them with generosity.

No need for leaves to applaud beside it,

Nor the wind to stir around it.

A tree is a tree,

Silently bearing what it should,

Facing what it must with composure.

It has lost the lushness and beauty once brought by its leaves,

But it has also discarded complexity and burdens.

Summer trees draped in leaves can be snapped in half by fierce winds,

But winter trees in the gale,

Either stand tall or fall,

They will not bend.

Because,

They have cast off the unnecessary and the burden.

Simplicity is the ultimate beauty.

I like winter trees,

I like the simplicity and integrity of winter trees.
