[PConline News] Yahoo Messenger for Vista is an instant messaging software specifically designed for the Windows Vista Aero Glass style, and it has now released a final preview version.
This allows users who have been waiting for a long time to finally face-to-face with this instant messaging software that has been rumored for nearly a year. According to experience, the current Yahoo Messenger for Vista preview version is still quite basic, so it lacks many features. Besides some text communication functions, common features such as voice, sending SMS to mobile phones, video, chat rooms, quick image sharing, etc., are not available. The "preview" can be said to only demonstrate some interface functions.
The most obvious feature is the integration into the Vista UI style. It also starts to support interface color changes like Live Messenger, supports drag-and-drop operations when reorganizing multi-tab chat windows, allows reclassification of contact lists into multiple groups, and reportedly can send 2GB files (not tested).
In any case, for an IM software, the development time has been too long, and users have waited too long. It's unclear whether it's a product worth waiting for or if Yahoo is still uncertain about what kind of product they should create.
This software is developed based on Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) technology, and the testing period was quite long. It was introduced at CES in January this year, and it took almost a year to appear. There’s no reason not to give it a try since it's a product refined over a year.
