Microsoft has recently released the Release Candidate (RC) version of the Windows Vista SP1 Beta. Next Monday (December 10), Microsoft will officially release the Vista SP1 version. On Microsoft's official Vista blog, product manager Nick White revealed some details about the Windows Vista SP1 RC version:
- The size of the standalone installation package has been significantly reduced. For example, the standalone package that includes 36 languages (x86, x64) is 50% smaller than previous versions; the package with 5 languages (x86, x64) is 30% smaller.
- The hard disk space required for the SP1 installation package has also been reduced accordingly. If there is insufficient disk space during the RC installation, the system will display an error message, accurately informing the user how much space is needed to complete the installation.
- In previous SP1 versions, there was a file directory that occupied 1GB of space, but this directory will not be necessary after installing the RC version. The RC version will automatically clean up disk space and delete this file directory after installation.
- Due to bug fixes and error code modifications in Windows Update, the stability of the installation has been greatly improved. Testers have confirmed that the success rate of installing the RC version has significantly increased.
- Improving the user experience of installing Vista SP1 through Windows Update. When the Beta version was released, users could complete the installation without needing prompts from Windows Update.
