In the future, network surveillance will present two development trends. The first is centralized monitoring replacing traditional dispersed and isolated monitoring, and the network is precisely the bridge to achieve this transformation. The second is intelligent backend applications. In the past, a large amount of video data could not be fully and promptly utilized, and many useful pieces of information were difficult or impossible to extract and preserve. The advantages of digitization and networking lie in: with the development of video analysis technology, multimedia databases, and artificial intelligence technology, we are gradually able to timely and automatically extract a large amount of information from video streams. This information can be transmitted, preserved, and retrieved, and it can also drive other data, easily completing tasks that are hard for manpower alone to accomplish.
