Sharp officially announced on the night of April 2, 2010, the release of a touch-sensitive LCD display that can switch between 2D and 3D viewing. This screen allows for glasses-free 3D viewing without any special auxiliary equipment. Sharp also stated that this LCD display will primarily be used in portable digital devices, including gaming consoles.
Sharp’s latest 3D LCD screen has added a touch function compared to previous 3D displays. In terms of technology, it continues to use parallax barrier technology to display 3D images. The screen size has increased from 2.4 inches to 3.4 inches, with a resolution of 480×854 pixels. Additionally, brightness has been improved from 250cd/m² to 500cd/m², while the contrast ratio has been enhanced from 100:1 to 1000:1, surpassing previously announced data.

This newly released display, due to its timing and the newly added "touch function," is speculated by the industry to likely be the touch screen used in the upcoming N3DS console.
