The sports sector must contribute to aiding the disaster-stricken Yushu region following the earthquake. Sports have their unique way of offering love to disaster areas. Whether domestically or internationally, whether through donations or setting up hotlines, they are willing to contribute their efforts for the disaster area. Liu donated 200,000 yuan in sports relief from New York on April 15. In his blog update, Liu Xiang mentioned that after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in Qinghai, he was willing to offer his own love as an athlete. It is reported that Liu Xiang donated 200,000 yuan for the earthquake.
"Yesterday morning, I read the news that a 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit Yushu County in Qinghai Province! Already, 617 people have died! As an athlete, I want to offer my own love," Liu Xiang wrote in his blog.
It is worth noting that during the drought in Southwest China earlier, he actively encouraged the public to drive less, eat less meat, reduce bathing time, and practice the concept of low-carbon living. Liu Xiang also donated 13 seabuckthorn seedlings under the "Million Forest" program, hoping to reduce environmental damage.
"One innocent life is so common. My heart really hurts! Natural disasters show no mercy!" Liu sighed.
After the earthquake, Liu Xiang was the first to donate 500,000 yuan to the quake zone and later increased it to 30 million yuan, making him one of the most generous individual athletes contributing to the relief effort. Later, Liu Xiang repeatedly visited to express sympathy and solicitude, providing physical support to children, deeply moved by them.
It is reported that after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Yushu County, Qinghai Province, Liu Xiang commissioned his father to donate 200,000 yuan to the disaster area via the Shanghai Red Cross. "This is our money, Youlichuli, and it does not fully express the force of our love," Liu said. He also called on everyone to donate to the disaster areas in Qinghai and offer their love. "I hope the people in the disaster areas can rebuild their homes! Life will get better! I am concerned about the disaster area and will report on it! Bless them!" Liu Xiang expressed heartfelt wishes for the people in the disaster areas.
After the earthquake in Yushu, Qinghai Province, Yao Ming quickly opened a hotline for overseas families in the People's Republic of China. The Yao Ming Foundation, along with a U.S. company, promptly set up a free hotline to facilitate overseas Chinese contacting their friends and relatives in Qinghai. Yao stated that besides fundraising through the foundation, help would be provided based on the actual needs of the earthquake-affected area. Yao mentioned that they gained several experiences from the Sichuan earthquake aid activities, which they would fully utilize now. The Yao funds need to act immediately, and together with iTalkBB, a U.S. company, they opened a free hotline. "This is important, whether relatives of the affected areas are in the United States or Chinese in the U.S. wanting to help, they can pass through these hotlines to the disaster area. I hope this hotline helps people." Yao said that the next best assistance from the Yao fund would go to the affected areas.
