Recently, heavy snowfall in the north has significantly impacted the daily lives of residents. With the cold weather, large amounts of laundry cannot be washed or dried, causing overcrowding at various laundries in the capital. The city's Consumer Association reminds consumers to choose appropriate washing methods based on the actual value of their garments before sending them for cleaning, to avoid unnecessary losses due to service quality issues. Currently, there are generally two types of washing methods available to consumers in the dry cleaning industry: non-valued washing and valued washing. The "lazy economy" is heating up as even bed covers and sheets are being dry cleaned. Consumers should select suitable washing methods according to the actual situation. For non-valued washing, the washing fee is charged according to the standard of non-valued washing; for valued washing, the washing fee is charged at a certain percentage (no more than 5%) of the consumer’s declared valued amount, but not lower than the charge standard of non-valued washing. Staff explained that the biggest difference between these two washing methods lies in the compensation method after service quality issues arise. If consumers choose non-valued washing, and garment washing quality problems occur after washing, with the garment still having wearing value after repair, the operator will compensate according to 1-6 times the amount of the garment washing fee; if it cannot be repaired or is lost, the operator will compensate according to 1-20 times the amount of the garment washing fee, but it will not exceed the actual value of the garment. If consumers choose valued washing, and garment washing quality problems occur after washing, with the garment still having wearing value after repair, the operator will compensate according to 5-25% of the garment’s valued amount; if it cannot be repaired or is lost, the operator will fully compensate according to the garment’s valued amount. Additionally, staff emphasized that consumers choosing valued washing should inspect the quality and quantity of the garments on the spot when collecting them, because according to relevant regulations, once the consumer completes the collection procedures and leaves the store, it is considered that the valued washing agreement is fully completed, and neither party bears responsibility. However, if consumers who choose non-valued washing discover quality issues caused by washing after leaving the store, they can request the operator to rework within two days.
