Following Final Fantasy XIII, SQUARE ENIX has recently announced new racial information about the PS3 online game masterpiece "Final Fantasy XIV." The character designs in this game are exceptionally exquisite, and the character images of each race are very handsome or beautiful. Among them, the most beautiful is the Hyur race, which resembles humans. This game will include five major races: Hyur, Miqo'te, Lalafell, Elezen, and Roegadyn. Some of the races may feel familiar to players of "Final Fantasy XI," but they only resemble in appearance; their racial names and essential settings are different from those in "Final Fantasy XI."
In the early Ice Age, the Miqo'te were a hunting tribe that came to Eorzea across the frozen seas to chase prey. They have a keen sense of smell and strong endurance, mainly divided into two groups: diurnal Sun Seekers and nocturnal Moon Keepers. The Miqo'te population is small, and they usually choose to live alone. Due to their strong racial consciousness, they tend to avoid contact with other races.
The Hyur is the most populous race in Eorzea, having arrived from nearby islands and continents through three large waves of migration. They brought technology and ideas from other worlds, becoming the driving force behind the advancement of Eorzea's civilization. One of the advantages of the Hyur race is their diverse linguistic and cultural systems, respecting freedom, but with low racial consciousness.
The cute Lalafell, with their small, round bodies and strong legs, possess clever minds. They highly value family ties, but this does not mean they reject other races. Evidence shows that they maintain good relations with other races in Eorzea. The Lalafell are one of the main races constituting Eorzea, originally an agricultural race living on South Sea islands. They gradually settled in Eorzea due to trade routes, but they seem to dislike cold weather, as there are few Lalafell in colder regions.
The Roegadyn are a maritime people based primarily in the northern seas. They have large builds, robust physiques, and straightforward, generous personalities. Their culture emphasizes mutual competition, but sometimes gentle individuals can also be found. Many members of this race can be seen in the sea city of Limsa Lominsa, working as sailors, mercenaries, or bodyguards, and even some Roegadyn engage in piracy. A few of them can also be found in the desert city of Ul'dah.
The Elezen once held leadership positions in Eorzea and were a proud nomadic people considered as the people of the gods. The Elezen are characterized by their slim, tall builds and highly developed hearing. They have the ability to adapt to harsh, vast environments. As the original inhabitants of Eorzea, when the Hyur first came to Eorzea, they were regarded as invaders by the Elezen, leading to war. Now, both races coexist peacefully, except for the reclusive Duskwight Elezen who do not accept this outcome.
The game's story describes the history of Eorzea, where bloody wars occurred due to competition among various countries in the past. Despite this, Eorzea is considered a land favored by the gods, attracting many adventurers, mainly because it is believed that "crystals" exist here. Players will embark on new adventures in this land.
Each city-state in Eorzea has one of the twelve gods as its guardian deity. Due to disputes over territory and interests, there was a long history of turmoil among the cities. However, 15 years ago, Ala Mhigo, then considered one of the six strongest cities in Eorzea, was invaded by the Garlean Empire. Led by sky-sailing warships and armed soldiers, the Garlean Empire attacked, and the other cities of Eorzea secretly formed a military alliance to cooperate. Fortunately, the Garlean Empire did not continue its aggression, allowing Eorzea to enter a temporarily peaceful era.
