From the surge in housing prices in the examination areas of Guangzhou's civil servant examination by three to five times, we can see the fervor surrounding Jiangsu's civil servant examination. Reporters subsequently visited dozens of test sites including South China Normal University (University Town Campus), Guangdong University of Technology (Longdong Campus), Guangzhou No. 33 Middle School, and Guangzhou Foreign Language Vocational Senior High School, and learned that hotels in the examination areas have significantly increased their prices, generally rising by three to five times, showing the extraordinary popularity of the civil servant examination.
According to the Guangzhou Personnel Examination Center, hotels near primary and secondary schools in Jiangsu, as well as Shanghai’s focus on Expo tourism, will monitor hotel prices during the Expo. The Guangzhou civil servant examination scheduled for March 27th will be held at 27 universities or high schools, including Guangzhou University. The exam schedule is as follows: Administrative Professional Ability Test from 08:00~09:30 in the morning, and Essay Test from 10:15~12:15.
"Tomorrow, I will take the exam at the University Town campus of Guangzhou University. This morning, when I asked a friend to book a room at a hotel, the daily rental room originally priced at 50 yuan per day had risen to 200 yuan. It was rumored that after 3 PM, reservations were no longer accepted due to being fully booked," Mr. Zhao, who works temporarily at a street office in Tianhe District, told reporters today.
Xiao, a senior student at South China Agricultural University taking the exam at Guangzhou No. 33 Middle School, said, "Today, I specifically came early to book a room. When I arrived here at 11 AM, there were already few rooms left; many people had booked yesterday. The price is uniformly 235 yuan per day, no bargaining, because the demand exceeds supply."
"Whenever there is a large exam, it is normal for daily rental rooms to increase in price; this is the market trend. It's not just our hotel raising prices," Ms. Wang from a hotel outside Guangdong University of Technology professionally explained to reporters, "This city exam has more than 20 test sites, and all hotels around these sites have raised their prices." She added, "Last weekend's provincial exam also saw us raise prices. We call this price 'exam period price' because our rooms are in high demand."
"I have already rented a room, and I will review systematically here this afternoon in preparation for tomorrow's exam," Xiao Song, who graduated from university a year ago and participated in last year's civil servant exam, said. He expressed, "I don't care about the accommodation fee. If I take the subway or bus to the exam site tomorrow morning, the tight schedule might affect my performance. I hope to perform well tomorrow, so this accommodation fee is worth it."
