Miro is a player. Moreover, the software is open source and spans across Windows, Linux, Mac platforms. Its predecessor was Democracy Player.

This open-source software includes a media player, video library, content guide, video search engine, integrating podcast and BitTorrent client.

Miro, developed by the Participatory Culture Foundation, aims to make online videos "as simple as watching TV", allowing everyone to easily access new internet media, and it supports open standards.

The new version supports HD video.
