Hervé Léger skirts; Hervé Léger's Bold Bikini

While browsing around Blue & Cream in East Hampton this past weekend, I spotted a bikini that was so sexy, so special, and so chic, I just had to have it. As I got a little closer and caught a glimpse of the price tag, my heart sank. Eight hundred and ninety-five dollars. The best bikini I'd seen all summer, a runway look from Hervé Léger by Max Azria’s spring 2009 collection, was a few hundred dollars out of my price range. This got me thinking about the most I’d spend on a swimsuit – a piece of fashion that involves so little fabric, like Hervé Léger skirts, but must fit perfectly and be of the highest quality to ensure it sucks in where necessary. Hervé Léger’s bandage bikini seems as if it would do just that. In the end, I walked out empty-handed, though I’m still dreaming up all the ways I’d wear the little two-piece (as a straight-up bikini, as a little crop-top paired with a high-waist skirt, layered over a tank dress, and so on). Would you spend this much on swimwear? Lindsay Lohan did.
