Kaspersky: Vista not as secure as XP

Not long ago, Kaspersky, a famous anti-virus software company and Microsoft partner, claimed that the OS Vista, which Microsoft claims to be the most secure, is actually less secure than XP.

Kaspersky's CEO Natalya Kaspersky stated that without the UAC function, Vista is less secure than Windows XP SP2. Natalya told Zdnet UK reporters: "Whether the security of Vista has improved or degraded is really a question."

Kaspersky is a Microsoft partner, providing scanning engines for Microsoft's commercial security product ForeFront.

Microsoft's commercial security product manager Arno Edelmann expressed confusion about Kaspersky's statements: "We have many partners, and Kaspersky is one of the best among them. I think there is something suspicious about their statement because they understand Microsoft's security products the most."

Kaspersky then indicated that security experts have already found five ways to bypass UAC, and as such, hackers will likely discover more security vulnerabilities.
