Host Xu Xiaoyan on camera [Dear audience, I am now at the ethanol production workshop of the Dongtai branch of Jilin Fuel Ethanol Co., Ltd. Here we can see that modern controllable fermentation and distillation equipment have replaced the traditional tools used in ethanol production such as fermentation tanks, fermentation vats, and stills. Not only has this increased the output of ethanol, but it has also reduced losses and achieved large-scale, mechanized, and automated ethanol production.] After more than three months of construction, China's first modern sweet sorghum stalk ethanol production facility was officially put into operation in Dongtai recently. It can produce 3000 tons of sweet sorghum stalk ethanol annually, with notable features such as not occupying farmland, not consuming grain, and not damaging the ecological environment. In addition to fully digesting sweet sorghum stalks for ethanol production, the project can also comprehensively utilize other waste materials, truly turning waste into treasure.
同期声 Jilin Fuel Ethanol Co., Ltd. Dongtai Branch General Manager Liu Yi [(We) are implementing a "non-grain feedstock" ethanol demonstration project, aiming to improve the industrialization level of ethanol production using sweet sorghum stalks as raw materials, enhance mechanization and automation levels, increase yields, and conduct beneficial explorations for China's "non-grain feedstock" industry.]
The successful commissioning of the sweet sorghum stalk ethanol project is another vivid example of Dongtai City's commitment to scientific development, promoting technological innovation, and following the path of new-type industrialization. In the past five years, Dongtai City actively integrated into the Yangtze River Delta regional integration process, proactively responded to the coastal development strategy of the entire province, and focused on creating a regional policy lowland and an industrial cluster platform. A large number of projects with high technology content, high added value, high return rates, low pollution, low energy consumption, and broad market prospects, such as Guohua Wind Power, Chunyan Plastics Industry, and Desay Chemical Fibers, have successively started construction, been put into operation, and produced effective results, propelling Dongtai's industrial economy into a new era. While external projects rapidly rose, local Dongtai enterprises implemented technical renovations and expansions to improve quality and efficiency, achieving a leap from quantitative change to qualitative change. Nearly ten companies entered the top 50 industrial enterprises in Yancheng city, with three companies making it into the top ten. For example, Mazzoli Dongtai Textile Machinery’s cotton spinning fine yarn machine accounts for one-third of the national market share, Jiangsu Leida Cement ranks sixth in the same industry nationwide, and Fengfeng Tungsten Molybdenum Products hold 70% of the national market share, becoming true industry giants. From labor-intensive to technology-intensive, from extensive to intensive, the transformation of economic growth models has laid a solid foundation for Dongtai City's leapfrog development. In 2007, Dongtai City's fiscal revenue broke through the 2 billion yuan mark for the first time, reaching 2.2 billion yuan, which is three times what it was five years ago.
同期声 Dongtai City Economic and Trade Commission Director Rong Lixin [Currently, the proportions of the three industries in Dongtai are 22.6:45.2:32.2 respectively, further highlighting the dominant position of industry. Dongtai has become an increasingly important manufacturing and processing base and emerging industry base in the Yangtze River Delta region.]
