There must be a shop in the trade city

On the night of June 13, a matchmaking event called "Hate in Yiwu Fashion Meet-and-Greet" was held at the Jiangbin Park in Yiwu.

There, nothing seemed to go as planned. Seeing one of the main characters wasn't easy—everyone had to fill out personal information forms beforehand and would be notified by phone at an appropriate time.

Don’t assume this is about a young woman seeking a wealthy partner; the 42-year-old Yiwu lady placing this matrimonial advertisement is herself not poor, claiming to have assets worth tens of millions of yuan. She offered a high price for a spouse but required someone from an equally wealthy background, which caused much discussion locally.

Today, a reporter interviewed the intermediary agency representing this lady over the phone. The staff informed the reporter that the lady’s surname is Jin, and her family is affluent. “She has been in the clothing business in Yiwu for over 20 years, with a solid foundation. Her liquid assets must exceed tens of millions of yuan.” It was also learned that the lady has been divorced for six years and has two children studying in Yiwu. The staff member indicated that further details were not convenient to disclose.

He Damei, who has been involved in matchmaking in Yiwu for many years, introduced that based on her experience, those who can meet the matrimonial requirement of a monthly salary of 200,000 yuan in Yiwu generally fall into three categories: people doing business on a certain scale, some shop owners in prosperous areas renting out their shops, and executives in securities or investment firms.

After the expensive matrimonial advertisement appeared, discussions arose. Many people said that this lady might be showing off her wealth, or even deliberately creating a buzz to attract attention, thinking that few people in Yiwu would come forward to respond.

Today, the reporter contacted Ms. Jin. “I placed the matrimonial ad upon the encouragement of my friends.” However, she indicated that in Yiwu, those who could meet her conditions are often unmarried, making it difficult to find someone truly equal in status.

The number of participants on that day was significant. A 300-meter-long red carpet was crowded with “leftover men and women” greeting each other. Among them, one matrimonial advertisement caught much attention—the lady placing the ad is 42 years old and claims to have substantial assets.

Is the high-price matrimonial ad due to a lack of money?

“The future husband should not only have a car and a house but also own a store in the Trade City. Moreover, his monthly income should be over 200,000 yuan.”

The female protagonist remains somewhat elusive.

But her requirements are not low—her counterpart should at least be a wealthy person of equal social standing: not only having a car and a house, but also owning a store in the Trade City. Additionally, his monthly income should be over 200,000 yuan.

An advertisement was displayed at the social event.

Although the main character did not appear, the advertisement still drew much attention. Someone calculated, “With a monthly income of 200,000 yuan, that's 2.4 million yuan a year. That makes him quite rich even in all of Yiwu.”

Ms. Jin also mentioned that two or three people had already contacted her, all being business owners, but she was unwilling to reveal too much information.

Sister He said that some well-off individuals place matrimonial ads but do not want to show up for face-to-face meetings, which is relatively common in Yiwu. She gave Ms. Jin a suggestion: “It would be better if you showed up at the scene to interact with others through mutual games, allowing both parties to personally experience and feel each other out. Suitability between the two is the most important thing.”

Some people believe that Ms. Jin's actions may stem from a lack of funds. “With assets worth tens of millions, why does she need someone of equal status? Why does she specify a monthly income of 200,000 yuan? With the global financial crisis looming, cash is the most precious asset. Perhaps Ms. Jin's actions indicate a tight financial situation, and she is looking for someone to help her out."
