The World Browser is a small, fast, secure, and powerful multi-window browser. It is completely free with no functional limitations, making it a green software option.
The World Browser is compatible with Microsoft's Internet Explorer and can run on Microsoft Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista series operating systems. It uses the same core as the IE browser, so the web page display effect can be exactly the same as IE. We recommend installing IE6.0 or higher version at the same time.
**Update Log:**
Date: June 22, 2007
Browser Mute Function:
While browsing the internet, many people like to play music on their computers simultaneously. This is usually a pleasant experience, but videos ads within web pages or automatically playing music can cause significant interference for those using speakers. Especially when surfing the web late at night, unexpected sounds from speakers can be an unpleasant experience.
This function was developed under these circumstances. By clicking the small speaker button on the status bar, the browser can enter mute mode. At this point, all videos, audio, and background music on web pages will be muted, but other software in Windows will not be affected. Now, you can enjoy listening to music while browsing without being "startled" by web pages.
**2.0.4.9 Update Log:**
- Added a browser mute function that can prohibit web pages from emitting sound;
- Resolved a compatibility issue with the blacklist filtering function, such as issues with Sina Go plugin;
- Fixed the problem where the favorites icon could not immediately change its appearance after skinning;
- Improved search settings so that search terms would not be forced to display in the search box when searching via the address bar;
- Enhanced floating ad interception to resolve a mis-interception issue;
- Improved an Ajax page compatibility issue that manifested as abnormal page behavior under certain conditions;
**About the Mute Function:**
- In Windows XP, it fully functions and can filter out sounds from Flash/QuickTime/MediaPlayer/RealPlayer page plugins;
- In Windows 2000/Vista, it only supports Flash/RealPlayer plugins;
- In Windows 98, it does not support page plugin muting (at this point, the speaker icon simply switches whether to play background music).
**Three Changes in Skin Support (For Skin Designers Reference):**
1. Modified the handling of three parameters in the skin:
They are SearchRightPad, AdressRightPad, and HisSearchRightPad in the [Combobox] section.
This value now represents the distance between the right side of the edit box window inside the control and the right side of the control window.
For HisSearchRightPad and SearchRightPad, if they are not written or have a value of 0, it means using one-third of the width of the background image as the blank space width.
If AdressRightPad is not written or has a value of 0, it means using the width of the drop-down button behind the address box as the blank space width.
2. Added drawing parameters for the progress bar in the skin:
Added ProgressGaugeMode=1 in the [ToolBar] section
# Status bar progress bar, scale part drawing method, 1 for stretch, 2 for tiling
3. Fixed a skin drawing error:
When the tab strip style is set so that the active tab covers the adjacent inactive tabs (edge-overlapping effect), the original drawing lacked transparency.
Note: Due to frequent updates to the tab strip caused by changes in progress, etc., considering efficiency, TheWorld limits the edge-overlapping to a maximum of 5 pixels, meaning PBorder cannot exceed 5.
**Note:** Since this version has added skin elements (the speaker icon for mute function), we suggest users who want to change skins temporarily use the default skin. The World Browser Skin Design Contest is about to start, and there will be many perfect skins available for everyone to use soon.
