Everyone knows that the next version of Ubuntu, "Gutsy Gibbon," is officially scheduled for release on October 18th this year (for more details, see the Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon release schedule). This version may include a brand-new window manager resulting from the merger of Beryl and Compiz.

Recently, Ubuntu has also released a specialized "Gutsy G" version for mobile devices. This version uses the Linux 2.6.22 kernel, which will be the first version of Ubuntu specifically designed for mobile devices. Gutsy G will integrate Nokia's Hildon UI components and is currently used on the Sony Ericsson P990i (top image) and the Nokia N800 multimedia computer (bottom image).
