RealPlayer 11 Preview Trial Review

Today, I saw a message from WappBlog and learned that the new version of RealPlayer 11 will be released soon. I quickly downloaded a PREVIEW version to try it out and found that it will be an excellent media player, so I'm introducing it here.

During the installation process, the installer will remind you that RealPlayer 11 can download videos for online viewing and ask you to make a choice. Later, near the end of the installation, it skips the step of requiring account login that previous versions of RealPlayer had.

As shown in the picture, RealPlayer 11 has made further breakthroughs in its interface compared to the previous generation, now having a strong Vista style. The background color is black, and the layout is still similar to the previous generation. The top menu bar has a bit of Windows Media Player's style.

After installation, it will require you to restart your browser. When I entered YouTube with my Firefox, I noticed that there was an additional "Download this Video" label next to the online player, indicating that this video can be downloaded via RealPlayer 11. After clicking, the video can be downloaded and played with RealPlayer. I tested other video-sharing websites; on Tudou, I didn't find this button, but when I right-clicked the player, I found "Download This Video To Realplayer" in the menu, but it didn't work after a single click. On Youku, although the download button didn't appear at first, selecting download from the right-click menu could download the video.

While playing videos, I noticed that the new version of RealPlayer added a Record button next to the Play button. It seems that RealPlayer will add another useful feature, which is video recording. However, I haven't figured out the specific usage yet.

Firefox is my main browser. Finally, I tested it in the IE browser, but I didn't find the video download button, probably because the plugin wasn't installed. In Firefox's Add-ons, you can see Realplayer's download plugin.

Today, I roughly looked at these areas and will introduce them up to here. I feel that the official version of RealPlayer 11 will have stronger functions than the current Windows Media Player 11. I can't help but admire RealNetworks as the true pioneer of streaming media software. Although it has faced strong attacks from Microsoft in recent years, it still maintains its professionalism and excellence. I strongly recommend friends who like videos, music, and new experiences to download and try it out.
