On June 8, Myspace China announced the upcoming launch of instant messaging software MySpaceIM, which is still in a testing state, and the future positioning is different from the independent IM products currently on the market.

The product is a Chinese-English version of Myspace IM, with some Chinese elements, such as skin and text. Myspace launched IM products worldwide late last year. Internal data shows that at the time of the new launch in early February, there were already more than 8 million users and a maximum of 500,000 simultaneous online users.

Myspace China technical director Tan Xiaosheng told TechWeb that after a period of time, the main work is the content of the Chinese Myspace English version, and now the large application has been synchronized with the English version, and from the perspective of development, the new technical solution is jointly developed by China and the United States, adding specific elements for the needs of Chinese users.

Previously, most foreign Internet companies entered China, they completed the English development and then handed over to the Chinese side, resulting in the slow launch of the Chinese version and the product is not suitable for Chinese users. Tan Xiaosheng said that Myspace's development method is very special, not as traditional software, Internet development is so standardized, but this development method ensures faster development and launch speed.

As for Myspace IM, Myspace website itself is suitable for Chinese users, Tan Xiaosheng believes that Myspace website style, is to give most of the functions to users to set up, from the data obtained, users have slowly accepted the style of personalized Settings. Myspace.cn has gained more than 500,000 users since its launch on April 26, while it is expected to register about 70,000 to 80,000 users, and the current growth rate has greatly exceeded expectations.

Analysts believe that although Myspace says it is not willing to compete with QQ, MSN, etc., but the competition between these sites will become more and more obvious in the future. QQ is a chat tool started, and is currently actively infiltrating the Internet community, while Myspace is a community started, and hopes to drive the development of IM through its huge community of users. Taking community as content products and IM as the development model of interpersonal communication has become the development direction of community-based websites.
