【Basic Introduction】

Mozilla Firefox, informally known in Chinese as "Huoxiu" (Fire Fox), is an open-source web browser that uses the Gecko engine (not the IE core) and is developed by the Mozilla Foundation with the help of hundreds of volunteers. Originally named "Phoenix," it was later renamed to "Mozilla Firebird" before becoming the current name.

Firefox is a lightweight, fast, simple, and highly extensible browser developed by the Mozilla Foundation (distinguished from the Mozilla Suite). Firefox has become the focus of Mozilla's development and will be the official browser of the Mozilla Foundation, possibly becoming part of the Mozilla Suite (together with the Mozilla Thunderbird email client).

The Firefox project began as an experimental project branched off from the Mozilla browser project by Dave Hyatt and Blake Ross. They believed that the Mozilla browser project was burdened by commercial demands sponsored by Netscape Communications and suffered from excessive developer-oriented feature creep. The current project development is led by Ben Goodger.
