Microsoft is planning to disable part of the automatic operation features across its various operating systems. In the near future, devices like flash drives, such as those inserted into a PC, will no longer connect automatically. The AutoRun feature will only be retained for CD-ROMs among local carriers. According to surveys, the probability of infection via CD-ROMs is much lower compared to smaller carriers like flash drives.
Microsoft has always claimed that their automatic run function is safe, but virus software has consistently spread wildly through this feature.
