As a storage device, the probability of a hard disk failing is not very high. A normally used hard drive will generally not encounter issues unless influenced by external forces. Some hardware failures we see, such as burned-out hard drive circuit boards, are usually caused by improper user operations. However, in computer maintenance work, bad sectors on hard drives are a frequently encountered issue, with most problems being due to bad sectors appearing on the surface of the disk platter. The circuit boards of these hard drives are usually fine, and the disk parameters can still be detected in the CMOS settings during startup. Discarding these hard drives would be quite wasteful. In fact, bad sectors typically appear in the initial regions of the hard drive. By using PowerQuest's partition software PartitionMagic, you can appropriately adjust the partitions to bypass these bad sectors, sacrificing some capacity. Apart from the space near the bad sectors being unusable, these hard drives can function perfectly normally.
