Recently, Firefox 3 has been developed to the A2 version, with some new features beginning to emerge. It is also rumored that IE8 is under development and is expected to be released in 2008.

Firefox 3 (code name: Gran Paradiso) already has some highly anticipated preliminary feature requirements, with an estimated release date in the third quarter of this year.

Features that Firefox 3 must follow and are most likely to include:

- Improved interaction with Add-ons: clearer, more relevant language; fewer installation steps; more visible add-on configurations; more noticeable update notifications.

- Support for remote bookmarks, bookmark and history annotations.

- Files can be processed by web services: attachments can be opened using services like Writely or Google Documents.

- Better print support to prevent paragraph cropping, true WYSIWYG.

- More MSI installations, making it easier for IT administrators to deploy and update Firefox.

- Security: support for Microsoft's CardSpace and OpenID, smarter handling of certificates.

- Airbags: Google-funded open-source crash reporting will replace the current TalkBack licensing.

Highly anticipated features:

- Private network browsing mode: I guess it means no caching, history, passwords, or form input information is stored.

- Save web pages as PDF files, integrating history.

- Support for pause/continue downloads.

- Let Firefox help be accessible only via the web, unsure if it’s a good idea.

- Microformats support.

Wishful thinking:

- Unified bookmarks/history.

- Support for Windows Vista parental controls.

- Grouping and ungrouping tabs, similar to IE7's quick tabs.

- Windows group policies, another feature IT administrators are looking forward to.

- Allow add-ons to be installed without restarting Firefox.

- Simplify the download management interface.
