Rainbow Ants Drinking Sugar Water | Good Life

An interesting experiment from Dr. Mohamed Babu, the idea of which was inspired by Dr. Babu's wife. One day, she showed the doctor some ants that had turned white after drinking spilled milk in the kitchen. The doctor was very interested and made some colored sugar drops to experiment with, observing the amazing color-changing ability of ants. As can be seen from the figure, the reason for the color change is that their abdomens are in a semi-transparent state, so they turn into the color of what they eat. The experiment shows that light colors seem to be more favored by the ants. Some ants drank green and then went on to drink other colored sugar drops, forming a colorful mosaic effect on their abdomens, thus becoming "rainbow ants".
